BellSouth Cellular Corporation Selects New ADC CrossPATH II ICSU to Increase Network Availability and Reliability
BellSouth will also be able to reduce expenses for the T1 circuits required to backhaul subscriber traffic between cell sites and MSCs. The CrossPATH II supports a "daisy chain" network topology, where multiple sites can use FT1 circuits to connect to a lead site, where traffic is then consolidated over a full T1 to the MSC. This design saves circuit costs while maintaining the operational and management integrity of all connected sites.
"We expect that the remote management capabilities of the CrossPATH II will increase our operational productivity and reduce maintenance expenses by reducing the requirements for technician visits to cell sites for problem solving and the associated overtime cost," said Scott Daniel, transport manager, BellSouth. "And with our new ability to remotely fix problems before customers notice, we expect to increase customer satisfaction and decrease churn."
The CrossPATH II is designed specifically for deployment in PCS and cellular networks. "BellSouth has proven that the design and features of CrossPATH II can deliver a significant value in wireless networks," said Kevin Hart, ADC marketing manager. "The CrossPATH II offers all the necessary interfaces for transporting voice, data and fraud protection traffic over a single T1 circuit."
