Boingo Partners With Livedoor On Roaming Agreement
Santa Monica, CA - Boingo Wireless Inc. recently announced a roaming agreement with Tokyo-based media services giant livedoor Co. Ltd., that adds the company's Tokyo metropolitan Wi-Fi network to the Boingo Roaming System.
With thousands of power-pole mounted access points, livedoor's network covers 80% of the outdoor area located within the Yamanote Line, the circular train line whose route defines the boundaries of metro Tokyo. The network livedoor is building is part of its overall effort to develop Internet and financial services businesses that will allow it to grow its customer base to more than 1 million customers throughout Japan.
The agreement with livedoor marks the second Asian hot zone to join the Boingo Roaming System and is the latest installment in Boingo's continuing effort to expand its network into the rich market of business hubs throughout China and Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea, Japan and Southeast Asia — all common destinations for business travelers.

Boingo users can connect to any of these locations with a single Boingo account using Boingo's free Wi-Fi client software, which combines more than 660 network names into one "Boingo Wireless" network to simplify identifying and connecting to commercial Wi-Fi networks.
Boingo provides access to this network to its Platform Services Partners, also providing them with customized client software and a full suite of back-office billing, roaming, mediation and clearinghouse services to allow them to offer their own Wi-Fi service quickly and cost effectively. To date, the company has announced Platform Services partnerships with BT Infonet, EarthLink, Fiberlink, Helio LLC, Nextel Communications, Verizon Business, and Telecom Italia.
