Tellabs Operations, Inc.it rate digital subscriber line (HDSL) network terminating unit was designed for the company's MartisDXX managed access and transport network system. It enables mobile network operators to use HDSL technology to connect microcell base transceiver stations (BTSs) to hub BTS sites. The unit can also be used by fixed operators for high-speed data services over copper to homes and businesses.

The MartisDXX HDSL unit enables allocation of transmission capacity speeds from 64 Kbps to 2 Mbps, over one or two copper pairs between a hub BTS site and a microcell. It extends to cover distances of three to 11 kilometers, depending on speed.

Existing telephony lines can be used and the same unit can also be used for business access applications connecting voice exchanges (PBXs) or delivering 2 Mbps for ISDN primary rate access applications.
