Operations Support System
This product collects all network events centrally, providing a single comprehensive view of the status of the whole network. NFM can determine the root-cause domain of a network fault. It then notifies technicians of the fault, and suppresses other domains' events that were not the root-cause. Software features, including a new graphical user interface (GUI), enable network operators to correlate thousands of alarms from multiple domains to isolate a single event that requires immediate attention.
The single view architecture of NFM eliminates the need for multiple operations teams, the monitoring of widely different systems and the necessity of manually correlating network events.
NFM can provide surveillance for any type of network or network element from almost any vendor. The system uses industry-standard interfaces and protocols to enhance usability and simplify customization and communication among network elements and management systems.
It supports Internet Protocol (IP), Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM), and Frame Relay networks, as well as voice and data convergence, data access devices, LAN/WAN equipment, and other data service devices. The system can collect and display messages and events from most elements, element management systems, or network management system.
NFM also includes an intuitive Web-based user GUI and offers simplified installation. NFM Release 10 also provides support for PCs and workstations, as well as a number of Hewlett-Packard servers.
