The Outdoor Unit (ODU) is a high performance radio transceiver for Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) communications that establishes an industry price/performance benchmark. The price-to-performance advantages of the unit are based on Microwave Monolithic Integrated Circuit (MMIC) technology. The transceiver's integrated MMIC lowers the number of components required as well as associated manufacturing and maintenance costs.

The device provides up to 2 GHz of bandwidth with a 16-gigabit bandwidth yield (assuming 64 QAM, quadrature amplitude modulation). The transceiver features a small, weatherproof housing into which one or a combination of three chipsets and filters may be inserted to support RF bands ranging from 23.5 GHz to 43.5 GHz. This modular architecture offers a flexible ODU that can adapt quickly and easily to the changing needs of the network operator. In addition, the modularity is complemented by standard interfaces (DAVIC, DOCSIS, UHF and others) for easy network integration. The device can be tuned during production or dynamically adjusted in the field.

The transceiver maintains communication reliability and high signal quality through advanced Voltage Controlled Oscillator (VCO) circuitry, which delivers high stability (even while handling large amounts of small signals) and very low phase noise. Network operators can also order the product with additional oscillator circuitry for extremely low phase noise applications.
