IEEE WCNC To Highlight Latest Advances In Wireless Communications And Networking

New York, NY - The IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference (IEEE WCNC), to be held at the Las Vegas Convention Center from March 31 to April 3, 2008, will feature the latest developments in broadband and wireless technologies, systems and services.

IEEE WCNC, co-located with the Cellular Telecommunications & Internet Association's (CTIA) WIRELESS 2008 trade show, brings together researchers and engineers from business, academia and government the world over. It will include technical programs, tutorials and panel discussions highlighting the future of wireless communications technologies, business applications and market trends. It offers nearly 600 technical presentations covering the best in PHY, MAC, networking and wireless services research and design.

Topics to be addressed at the meeting include: "New Opportunities and Challenges for Efficient Spectrum Utilization", "Emerging Wireless Technologies", "Relay/Mesh/Multihop Networks and Cooperative Communications", "Advanced Radio Resource Management Techniques", "Location-Based Services", "4G Networks", "WiMAX", "Advanced Antenna and Modern Technologies", and "Multi-User OFDM."

The conference keynote speaker will be Dr. Hakan Eriksson, Senior Vice President, Chief Technology Officer, and head of Group Function Technology at Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson. Plenary session addresses will be given by:

  • Dr. Young Kim, senior vice president of global standards and strategy at Samsung Electronics;
  • Dr. Roger Marks, senior vice president of NextWave Broadband Inc; and
  • Dr Joseph Mitola III, consulting scientist at MITRE Corporation and the founding chair of the Software-Defined Radio Forum.
