APS-X.25 is a streams based software package that supports the X.25 data communications protocol
APS-X.25 is a streams based software package that supports the X.25 data communications protocol on UNIX operating systems. As a member of the Adax Protocol Software (APS) product line it supports the principles of flexibility, high performance, and open standards conformance that define Adax's commitment to its customers. Together with the APC line of communications controllers, APS-X.25 provides a high performance, highly integrated X.25 communications solution for billing applications or wireless network infrastructure.

Performance is in the Details
The APS-X.25 software package can be used with any of the Adax HDC, ACT, or APC Protocol Controllers. APS-X.25 supports up to 3,000 logical channels that may be multiplexed over any number of 1 to 256 separate physical connections. APS-X.25 supports X.25 CCITT/ITU X.25 standards from 1976, 1980, 1984, or 1988 as well as BX.25. APS-X.25 can be used singularly or in conjunction with other Adax or 3rd party products in a number of different applications.

APS-X.25 Utilities
APS-X.25 provides a set of user utilities that emulate equivalent TCP/IP applications over an X.25 network. These applications include:

  • xmail: An application similar to the Unix ‘mail' program which allows users to send electronic mail to remote users over a X.25 network.
  • xft: An application similar to the Unix ‘ftp' program which allows users to send files to a remote machine over a X.25 network.
  • xcu/xpad: An application similar to Unix ‘cu' and ‘telnet' which allows users to log into remote machines connected over a X.25 network.
  • Xlogin: An application similar to Unix ‘login' which authenticates incoming calls from remote machines over a X.25 network.
APS-X.25 Configuration
Configuration of all X.25 and LAPB addresses, timers, and parameters are made through a single configuration file. Individual physical connections can have their parameters changed while the APS-X.25 software is running without disrupting any other connection.
