Nextel, Wireless Knowledge partner to serve enterprise market
Source: Nextel
In its continued effort to focus on corporate customers, Nextel Communications Inc. (Reston, VA) and Wireless Knowledge Inc., (San Diego, CA) have formed an agreement to co-market and sell an enterprise solution that enables business customers to access critical business information on their Internet-capable phones. Nextel will offer Wireless Knowledge's Workstyle Server as part of its online service, expanding its portfolio of wireless Internet applications and services designed specifically for mobile business users.
As a result of the alliance, customers will be able to securely access critical enterprise information such as Microsoft Exchange e-mail, calendar, and contacts.
Nextel Online services use a national packet data network, so customers are always connected to the Internet as long as their phones are turned on. In addition to selling the Workstyle Server to its customers, Nextel intends to use it to mobilize its own workforce, providing wireless corporate network access to executive management and its nationwide sales force. The company has been using the service for more than a month and has been pleased with its performance.
