Planning and Design Tools
The products are applicable to all wireless systems from 30 MHz to 100 GHz, and as many as 24 propagation models are available, including user-defined and customizable models. For area-wide coverage and interference studies, up to 30 study types are available. For link reliability, the products feature a full microwave path analysis, including rain and fade outage, percent availability, dispersive fade margin, antenna diversity reception and cross-link interference. Rain outage calculations now include a user-defined correlated rain fade on interference paths.
Nine specific study types are available for multipoint systems. Multi-link and consecutive point-to-point network link systems are supported. Transmitters and links can be assigned to groups for easy management of site information, and groups can be globally edited and controlled.
Specialized network design features are available for mobile (cellular/PCS, paging, LMR, broadcast) and fixed wireless (LMDS, MMDS, WLL) systems. This includes automatic system layout and frequency planning. AMPS, NAMPS, TDMA (TDD), GSM, and CDMA system types are supported. Specialized features are available for indoor and outdoor microcell ray-tracing studies.
Data formats with flexibility:
- All tools are able to use compatible terrain elevation databases for anywhere in the world. Also, 30 arc second and GIS (spatial) data is available for the entire world.
- An expanded list of terrain elevation database formats means that most major database sources are compatible.
- The company's drawing tools make it easy to create files for buildings, land use (clutter), demographics, traffic/capacity, and ground conductivity databases.
- The map display capabilities have been enhanced to allow transparent map layers as well as simultaneous display of area studies (ideal for indoor, multi-story studies).
