TDMA Numbers Continue to Grow

The Universal Wireless Communications Consortium (UWCC; Bellevue, WA) announced at the World Trade Organization (WTO) meetings in Seattle that through the end of third quarter, there were 11.4 million new Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) subscribers for a total of 30 million. The technology has posted a 61% growth rate since Dec. 31, 1998.

"We are on track to exceed 35 million subscribers before the end of the millennium," said Sheila Mickool, UWCC president.

North America and Latin America showed strong demand for TDMA technology. The number of TDMA subscribers totaled 17 million in North America and 10.9 million in Latin America.
