Wireless solution recognized as groundbreaking technology by Sound And Video Contractor Magazine

Huntsville, AL -- Avocent Corporation today announced that the AutoView Wireless solution, the world's first wireless keyboard, video, and mouse (KVM) switching and audio/video broadcasting solution has won the "Pick Hit" award from Sound and Video Contractor Magazine. Pick Hit award winners were selected at the InfoComm 2004 Exhibition in Atlanta in June. The AutoView Wireless solution was one of only 19 products selected from more than 10,000 products being shown by more than 650 exhibitors.

"A panel of judges consisting of system designers, integrators, technicians, consultants and contributors to Sound and Video Contractor walked the show floor anonymously during the first two days of exhibits," said Mark Johnson, editor-in-chief of Sound and Video Contractor Magazine. "They then selected products that represented positive advancements in technology by innovative or sophisticated design or by setting a new benchmark in price/performance or ultimate practicality."

The AutoView Wireless solution allows two simultaneous users to wirelessly connect 2 to 16 servers from 100 feet away. The same transmitter/receiver also provides video broadcasting from one computer VGA source to up to 8 displays. The device eliminates the need for expensive, fixed infrastructure at the audio/visual (AV) destination points found in digital retail advertising, making it easy to modify AV requirements in the future. Built on 802.11a with Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) security, the unit connects directly to local devices and serves as the radio interface link allowing the computer to broadcast secure audio and high-resolution video data through walls without VGA cables. The plug-and-play installation requires no drivers, software or operating system upgrades.

"We feel very strongly about the technology advancements we've made in wireless technologies, but to be recognized by Sound and Video Contractor with a Pick Hit award -- that validates that we are definitely leading a shift in this industry," said Matt Nelson, director of strategic business development for the Avocent Wireless division.
