Seaside Wireless Communications Selects Telrad Networks For Nova Scotia LTE Broadband Network

Telrad’s solution enables faster Internet speeds for residential and business customer base

Lod (PRWEB) - Telrad Networks, a global provider of TD-LTE broadband solutions, today announced that Seaside Wireless Communications, as part of its ongoing commitment to keep pace with market demand, is introducing Telrad LTE solutions to its broadband network in Nova Scotia, Canada. The project, partially funded by the Connecting Canadians program, will be implemented over a 3-year period and will offer coverage throughout ten counties covering an area of 30,000 square kilometers.

A large portion of the deployment involves replacing equipment that operates in the 900 MHz frequency band with the Telrad LTE product, which will operate on the 3.65-3.7 GHz spectrum. The Telrad product portfolio is well suited to the Nova Scotia landscape, which poses significant non-line-of-sight challenges. The award-winning BreezeCOMPACT all-in-one LTE-Advanced base station solution will enable Seaside to increase Internet speeds from 1.5 Mbps to 5 and 10 Mbps, and will soon offer 25 Mbps.

The BreezeCOMPACT high power 4x4 radio with advanced MIMO techniques will significantly increase capacity and extend coverage to new areas with non-line-of-sight conditions. While the BreezeWAY EPC, provides standard EPC (MME, SGW, PGW) compliance, as well as additional features designed especially to support fixed wireless operators, with a reasonably priced entry point, immense scalability and end-to-end management.

“Seaside has been in operation for over 40 years. We are an integral part of the communities we serve, and we continually strive to deliver faster and better Internet services for our customers. Our new Telrad-powered LTE network allows us to offer much faster speeds which will greatly improve the Internet experience for people living in rural and remote areas,” said Jeff Pastuck, Wireless Network Manager of Seaside. “Telrad has offered us a great solution with strong customer support.”

With higher speeds and capacity now available using Telrad’s point-to-multipoint (PtMP) products, Seaside is also aiming to expand services to rural businesses. The Telrad solution is attractive to Seaside because of its Software-Defined Radio platform, which enables them to scale their growth over time, and upgrade to future technology developments without costly hardware upgrades.

Industry Canada’s Connecting Canadians program aims to provide 98 percent of Canadian households in rural and remote regions with greater access to broadband Internet. In total, this investment will target 280,000 Canadian households currently without Internet or that have limited slower access. Telrad’s BreezeCOMPACT is certified with Industry Canada (IC) and will play an important role in helping Canadian ISPs to reach the program’s goals.

“Telrad has designed a suite of standards-based LTE products that are very attractive to wireless Internet service providers, such as Seaside. We are delivering a solution that specifically addresses the requirements of fixed broadband LTE, providing investment protection that is only possible through a standards-based approach,” said Chris Daniels, Vice President and Regional GM of North America for Telrad. “We offer the perfect combination of NLOS performance, flexibility, and ease of deployment eliminating the overhead, complexity, and cost associated with mobile-focused LTE solutions.”
