$6 million investment expands Rogers AT&T Wireless coverage

Rogers AT&T Wireless (Toronto) is investing approximately $6 million to expand its wireless coverage along Highway 7 from Saskatoon to the Alberta border; becoming the first wireless provider to bring Digital PCS service to the Highway 7 area.

Seven new Rogers AT&T cell sites are currently being built and will be in service by December 2000, introducing Rogers AT&T Digital PCS services in the following communities: Martensville, Delisle & Hwy 7, Harris & Hwy 7, Rosetown & Hwy 7, D'Arcy & Hwy 7, Kindersley & Hwy 7, Marengo & Hwy 7

These new cell sites will provide Rogers AT&T Wireless customers who travel the Highway 7 area with expanded coverage and access to the extraordinary suite of Digital PCS enhanced services, including:

  • Two-way text messaging, which enables users to send as well as receive short text and numeric messages of up to 150 characters on the screen of their digital PCS phones.
    Extended battery life
  • Caller ID, which displays the number of the incoming caller on the screen
  • Visual call waiting, which displays the name or number of the incoming caller on the screen of the phone even when the customer is on another call
  • E-Mail messaging, which provides a dedicated e-mail address for the phone so users can receive e-mail messages directly on the screen
  • E-Mail alert, which forwards notification (subject, sender, time & date) of messages received on their modem-equipped PC to the screen of their phones
This $6 million investment complements the over $60 million of investment Rogers AT&T Wireless has invested to date in Saskatchewan.
