Aether Announces Availability of ScoutSync™, ScoutIT™ v.3.6 and ScoutExtend™
New features of ScoutSync 3.6 include a PocketPC client - in addition to the Palm™ and WinCE client - and full security capability. Administrators now have the ability to choose from three levels of security for both Palm OS© and Windows© CE devices, including the highest level of secure socket layer (SSL) available - 128 bit, which enables encryption over TCP/IP and CDPD networks. Users of the synchronization tool can now access enterprise applications through Internet standard SSL connections previously unavailable to mobile devices.
Increasing Access To Information Resources
The combination of ScoutSync and ScoutExtend increases the users access to a wider variety of enterprise information resources and applications. Through ScoutExtend, ScoutSync is now equipped with PIM and multi-database synchronization functions that can be deployed without undertaking a custom conduit development cycle.
Based on fourth generation ScoutSync technology, ScoutExtend offers three components:
ScoutSync Conduit for Lotus® Notes®
This conduit synchronizes Lotus Notes Mail and Calendar folders with the Palm handheld Mail and Date Book applications;
ScoutSync Conduit for Microsoft® Exchange
This conduit synchronizes Microsoft Exchange Mail, Calendar, Contacts, Notes and Tasks with the Palm handheld Mail, Date Book, Memo Pad, To Do List, and Address applications;
ScoutSync DB Connect
A solution that integrates ScoutSync's synchronization infrastructure with the PeerDirect Replication Engine for synchronizing Palm databases with multiple, heterogeneous enterprise databases.
ScoutSync has always allowed administrators to build extensions that access company data via Palm handheld devices; v.3.6 now extends access to support Windows CE and Pocket PC devices.
Features of ScoutIT 3.6:
- Management API's for Windows CE and Pocket PC devices: Allows administrators to tightly integrate the management console piece of ScoutIT into existing management systems such as Microsoft SMS, IBM's Tivoli, CA's Unicenter, and HP's OpenView.
- Stand-alone User Import Utility: Allows administrators to import user profiles from systems like Microsoft Exchange, Lotus Notes, and flat file formats.
- Database Migration Utility: Allows for automatic conversion of the database from Microsoft Access to Oracle or Sybase.
Pricing & Availability
ScoutSync and ScoutIT v.3.6 are available and pricing starts at $200/user for a five-user license, with discounts for volume purchases. ScoutExtend's conduit for Lotus Notes and conduit for Microsoft Exchange are available and priced as an additional 25% of the ScoutSync per-seat price. The price for ScoutSync DB Connect varies according to the needs of the enterprise. ScoutExtend components are priced and sold individually and are not available as a bundle.
