Aptilo Networks Acquires Airpath Wireless
This strategic move doubles Aptilo's presence and revenue in the U.S., strengthening the company's leadership as the largest provider of integrated solutions for WiMAX, metro Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi hotspot installations worldwide.
The acquisition further bolsters Aptilo's existing software license and managed service offerings with the addition of Airpath's managed service solutions. Aptilo is the only vendor in the sector to offer both software licenses and managed service globally. The market demand for managed service or by many named software-as-a-service (SaaS) is predicted to triple 2006 numbers by 2011 [1]. This flexibility – the ability to shift between software licenses and SaaS -- is a benefit to service providers and enterprises as they evolve through different phases of business growth. The combination of technology from both companies perfectly positions the new Aptilo to meet this demand.
"There is tremendous opportunity for integrated broadband wireless solutions. We expect the Wi-Fi/WiMAX market will experience significant growth, fueled by an increasing number of devices with built-in Wi-Fi/WiMAX technology. This will attract many new types of users and new services. In this market, it is essential to continue to build on economy of scale and Aptilo's proven stability, and our already established profitability. This is key for our customers and business partners," said Torbjorn Ward, Chief Executive Officer, Aptilo Networks. "This acquisition strengthens Aptilo's proven, feature-rich managed service offerings in North America, positioning us well to lead the market with unique solutions, unparalleled functionality and exceptional service."
As part of the transaction, Aptilo and Airpath will unite their operations, staff and customer base. Moving forward, Aptilo will be looking at the strengths and functionalities of both companies to enhance the product/service offerings delivered through a platform with proven stability and carrier-grade service level – offered globally in more than 35 countries from Aptilo's Network Operation Centers in the U.S., Europe and Asia or as a software license.
"After a thorough process of exploring all of the players in the market we have determined that Aptilo Networks was by far the strongest international player – with a solid U.S. presence as well as extensive installations worldwide -- with the most feature-rich and flexible platforms," said Richard D. Lane, Chief Executive Officer, Airpath Wireless. "Aptilo has a formidable presence in the market, as their resources and product and service offerings are unmatched. We are delighted to be a part of the Aptilo family."
