In an effort to improve consumer awareness and education of wireless data services, Bedminster, NJ-based Bell Atlantic Mobile (BAM) has entered into a joint marketing agreement with Infowave Software Inc. (Vancouver, Canada). The agreement will enhance BAM's suite of wireless data and Internet services through data compression, optimized Web browsers, and Microsoft Outlook/Exchange applications. The companies will collaborate on joint sales and marketing activities to promote Infowave's wireless enterprise solutions and BAM's wireless IP network.

"Providing wireless access to corporate and enterprise data has always been an important market for Bell Atlantic Mobile, and teaming up with Infowave offers us another avenue of distribution in this key market," said Robert Hirsh, BAM executive director of Wireless Data Sales and Marketing. "In fact, our wireless Internet customers are both our largest data customer segment, and fastest growing as well." Last month, the company introduced Web Access, a new wireless Internet service featuring Web-enabled digital wireless phones (see BAM Introduces Wireless Internet, E-mail Access).

Infowave's software provides wireless access to e-mail, the Internet, corporate intranets, and Web-based applications for mobile workers. Infowave's customers can choose from a spectrum of mobile devices including phones, pagers, handheld computers, and laptops.

Infowave and Bell Atlantic Mobile are members of the Wireless Ready Alliance, an organization founded by Sierra Wireless Inc. (Toronto, Canada) to unite leading companies and create end-to-end mobile, wireless data solutions.
