After recently launching its new local paging service in the Carolinas, Bedminster-NJ-based Bell Atlantic Mobile (BAM) reports up to a 30% increase in paging sales. Business owners and families have been checking out the new paging plans, which now provide four local paging service areas, in addition to the company's existing regional and national paging plans. These new local plans provide reduced pricing for service in local areas, as well as a local pager number for customers.
The company is also introducing a "Paging Bundle" for $99, which includes a choice of a Motorola Pronto or Nixxo Platinum pager and a year's worth of local paging service.
BAM's four new local paging areas are:
- Charlotte/Asheville, NC—comprises Charlotte, Gastonia, Hickory, Morganton, Shelby, Rutherfordton, Concord, Lenoir, Lincolnton, Rock Hill, Statesville, Boone, and Waynesville, NC
- Rockingham/Laurinburg, NC
- Columbia, SC
- Upstate South Carolina—Greenville, Spartanburg, Anderson, Gaffney, Clemson, and Greenwood
Local plan pricing options include a quarterly payment plan—$24 per quarter for local paging service, which equates to $8 a month—or an annual payment plan—$84 per year, which equates to $7 a month. Both options provide customers with 500 local pages per month and 25¢ per page thereafter.
