Boingo Wireless Acquires Opti-Fi Networks
LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Boingo Wireless announces that it has acquired Opti-Fi Networks, a limited liability company from Parsons Transportation Group and ARINC, that provides Wi-Fi infrastructure implementation and management for airports around North America.
Boingo is the largest operator of airport Wi-Fi networks in North America, and with this acquisition, Boingo will be adding 25 new airports to its footprint. The acquisition is part of Boingo's continued growth strategy which includes expanding and growing the Boingo Roaming Network worldwide, as well as partnerships for Boingo Mobile with handheld manufacturers and carriers.
Passengers who access the Internet in the Opti-Fi locations will be able to purchase Boingo AsYouGo day passes for $7.95, or a subscription to Boingo Unlimited, a monthly account that provides unlimited Wi-Fi access to thousands of hotspots throughout the Americas for $21.95 per month. All these locations also work with Boingo Mobile, Boingo's worldwide service for Wi-Fi enabled mobile phones and tablets that costs $7.95 per month.

This acquisition increases the number of airport networks operated by Boingo from 30 to 55, covering 43 percent of passenger enplanements in the top 100 North American airports. The Opti-Fi acquisition includes such airports as Montréal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport (YUL), Buffalo Niagara International Airport (BUF), Edmonton International Airport (YEG), El Paso International Airport (ELP), and Piedmont Triad International Airport (GSO).
These locations join other airports operated by Boingo in North America and the United Kingdom, including John F. Kennedy, LaGuardia and Newark airports in the New York metropolitan area, as well as Chicago's O'Hare and Midway and London's Heathrow.
