The 7410 BAS (Broadband Access Server) now includes broadband wireless access alongside its wire-line capability. The device now has the ability to aggregate and terminate traffic from an LMDS (Local Multipoint Distribution System) network. It enables residential and corporate broadband service providers to offer high value-added IP services through the establishment of customized IP VPN and portal-based services. The addition of LMDS allows service providers to extend services to regions where there is no access to an appropriate wire-line infrastructure. This increases the reach of services provided to existing customers, and offers the opportunity to open up new markets.

The device now offers cost-effective carrier-scale DSL and LMDS termination and a gateway to selected ISPs and application service providers. It also enables private VPN connectivity and the advanced management suite makes it an ideal solution for retail and wholesale services. The device, located in a service provider's network, aggregates traffic from multiple DSLAMs (Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexers). The product supports tens of thousands of concurrent users of DSL services, combining broadband applications, modem traffic, VoIP - and now LMDS traffic - in a single device.
