BSWD to launch Neomar microbrowser

BellSouth Wireless Data plans to introduce a microbrowser from Neomar Inc. (San Francisco) that will be enabled for its Intelligent Wireless Network. When launched, the microbrowser will give customers using BellSouth-enabled wireless handhelds comprehensive access to lifestyle and other value-added content, allow BellSouth Wireless Data to deliver wireless e-commerce applications to end-users and give businesses access to Web-based enterprise applications in a secure end-to-end solution to deliver content to customers.

From an enterprise standpoint, the addition of the microbrowser to the BellSouth network will allow employees to have access to critical business applications, such as sales force automation and banking via wireless handheld devices. The microbrowser capabilities also will enable wireless Application Service Providers (ASPs) to deliver a variety of wireless data solutions to small and medium-sized businesses via the BellSouth network.

The microbrowser will deliver content from BellSouth Wireless Data and third-party content providers specifically formatted for wireless handhelds using WML, the WAP equivalent of HTML. Along with the first commercially available browser for PDAs, Neomar has developed an end-to-end WAP solution encompassed by a gateway, application server, and a portal.
