Cellular and PCS

Tower Structures' years of experience in two-way radio towers facilitated our work in the cellular industry. From the infancy of cellular, Tower Structures has been on the leading edge of design. Many innovative ideas from our engineering staff have become industry standards, and we continue to produce the best solutions in the industry. These solutions carry over into PCS systems as well.

We understand the changing needs of antenna system design as dictated by system maturity (increased density) and technological advances. We design our antenna mounts for maximum adjustability to accommodate these fluctuations. We have also designed modular towers and pole structures for cellular that can be reduced in height, as system design requirements change. The removed sections can be reused at other sites, saving time and money. Our use of standardized components facilitates rapid rollout of new systems by allowing for bulk purchase of components. We also design the structures as a complete system capable of supporting the antennas and cables per manufacturers' specifications. Since we install cellular towers with our own crews, we design for ease of installation and maintenance. Since 1983, we have designed, manufactured and installed thousands of cellular support structures, including self-supporting towers, guyed towers, and pole structures.

We also install what we make. Our crews know the importance of antenna alignment and properly installed connectors. We have installed cellular towers in soil conditions ranging from rock to swamps, and in terrain ranging from snow-capped mountains, to deserts, to islands, at sites accessible only by snow cat, helicopter, or even by boat. We have transported ice to cool concrete in the Mojave desert, and used combinations of refrigerated pilings and special concrete additives and construction techniques in the Alaskan tundra. With thousands of installations behind us, the chances are that we have already solved an installation problem similar to yours.

Our experience in cellular does not end with the antenna structure. We have constructed hundreds of complete sites, including clearing and grading, road construction, paving, fencing, electrical (AC and DC), HVAC, grounding, and installation and testing of antennas, cables, and radios. We have also converted many existing building to cellular use, including offices, equipment penthouses, and mini-storage units, as well as constructing new radio equipment penthouses or mounting portable buildings on rooftops.
