Centennial to Purchase Lake Charles, LA MSA No. 192

Neptune, NJ-based Centennial Communications Corp. has entered into a definitive agreement to purchase the remaining 74.9% of A-side cellular license and wireless telephone system serving Lake Charles, LA MSA No. 192 that it does not currently own. Centennial currently owns 25.1% of the license and system and will own 100% upon consummation of the transaction. The Lake Charles market has a population of approximately 180,000 and connects Centennial's existing Louisiana and Texas service areas. The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions, including regulatory approval.

Centennial is an independent wireless telecommunications service provider in the United States, Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic with approximately 17.4 million Net Pops and more than 585,500 wireless subscribers. Centennial's domestic operations have approximately 6.1 million Net Pops and more than 416,500 wireless subscribers. Centennial de Puerto Rico is a fully integrated provider of communications services in Puerto Rico, using a PCS license that covers 3.8 million Pops in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands and a Competitive Local Exchange Carrier license to operate in Puerto Rico.

Centennial de Puerto Rico has approximately 169,000 wireless subscribers. In addition, the company now owns 70% of a PCS license in the Dominican Republic representing approximately 6.2 million Net Pops, and holds minority shares representing approximately 1.2 million Net Pops in U.S. cellular operations controlled and managed by other operators.
