cPCI Media Gateway

The Trunk Pack (TP) 610 is a cPCI Media Gateway that supports PSTN signaling and MGCP call control, and complies with standards for both Voice over ATM AAL2 and VoIP. It is a new AudioCoded cPCI product that is targeted for NextGen Access and 3G Wireless Networks.

The product provides eight T1 or six E1 trunk interfaces to the PSTN and media streaming over redundant 100Base-T interfaces and OC-3 interface. Moreover, the device offers a "Hostless Operation" which removes the bottleneck problems relating to cPCI backplane through-put transfer rates. As a result, it offers greater scalability, reliability and easy network-based upgrades for open telephony systems.

The device supports migration from the PSTN to VoP networks by enabling an ATM access network that leverages already installed CLASS 5 circuit switches. It also supports the softswitch architecture, which promises IP-based services and call control. The product supports industry standard algorithms such as G.723.1, G.729A, G.711, and T.38 fax relay as well as proprietary vocoding for low bit rate and low delay applications. The platform also supports enhanced echo cancellation. It supports192 channels of voice compression at 30 ms echo cancellation. Voice, fax, and data traffic can be auto-detected by the board and the developer can specify how to process each media type. The product is MGCP-enabled, while maintaining support for the company's APIs. PSTN signaling includes support for CAS or PRI signaling protocols.
