Ericsson to Trial WAP Technology With Rogers Cantel

Ericsson Canada Inc. plans to trial Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) technology over a TDMA (IS-136) network with Rogers Cantel.

Ericsson's TDMA/CDMA WAP system is based on the scaleable, fault-tolerant Jambala platform. The Jambala WAP Gateway is targeted at TDMA and CDMA operators globally and is bundled with a range of WAP applications. The system has been fully tested with terminals from major vendors.

WAP is a first step toward Mobile Internet and 3G (third generation) mobile offerings. Mobile Internet will not only make the current Internet available from mobile terminals, but also create a whole new set of services that will be available anywhere, anytime for any user.
