New Net Surveyor System Monitors Telephone Traffic Easily, Economically

Gaithersburg, Md.-March 20, 2002- As telecommunications service providers, network operators and equipment manufacturers across the U.S. respond to requests for expanded network surveillance and security, GL Communications Inc. today announced it's new Net Surveyor system. "The need for improved monitoring tools becomes more evident every day," said Vijay Kulkarni, president and CTO of GL Communications. "Our new platform meets that need in a very efficient and user-friendly way." GL Communications is a leading international provider of PC-based telecommunications test, analysis and simulation products.

GL's Net Surveyor is a highly-flexible platform, easily and economically programmed and customized by telecom companies and operators of private networks to enhance their ability to perform a wide variety of security and non-security surveillance tasks. This state-of-the-art system is supported by an open, three-tier distributed architecture driven by non-intrusive hardware probes, intelligent software and a database engine.

Unlike any other network surveillance system available today, the GL Net Surveyor monitors the network from the inside out. GL's T1/E1/T3/OC-3 probes can be configured to monitor various protocols on the network, collect the required information - such as calls taking place, called and calling numbers, network locations and type of traffic - and send this information, in real time, to a central location where it is entered into an industry-standard database. Flexible, scalable architecture allows users to perform surveillance tasks that are unique to the GL Net Surveyor.

In addition to security monitoring, the Net Surveyor will perform many other diagnostic and trouble-shooting network tasks. These include traffic engineering, failure prediction, call tracing, collection of detailed call records, service quality monitoring, billing verification, alarm monitoring and fraud detection.

"We are committed to sharing our substantial experience in telecommunications analysis and the technology we've developed to support our customers with this cost-effective, versatile network monitoring system," said Vijay Kulkarni. "We are pleased to provide a solution that makes it easy and economical to obtain a quick snapshot of the entire network and the specific data needed."
