Dublin-based system integrator Off Air Electronics Ltd. has ordered a system from San Jose, CA-based Hybrid Networks Inc. as part of its solution for Chorus Communications' roll-out of two-way fixed-wireless Internet access in Dublin and Limerick, Ireland. Hybrid will provide 2,500 wireless broadband routers and three head-end units for the deployment, which will be the first two-way fixed broadband wireless installation in Ireland and Hybrid's seventh outside the United States. Chorus's wireless broadband system will use a special frequency similar to the MMDS bands used in the United States.
"We're pleased to be working with Chorus for the first two-way deployment of this kind in Ireland," said Michael D. Greenbaum, president and CEO of Hybrid Networks. "Chorus chose our system because we were able meet their special frequency requirements without having to modify our standard product."
