The ioStar-3 product line is a carrier-class Point-to-Multipoint wireless solution that provides scalable bandwidth in multiples of 1.5(or 2) MBPS, up to 4.5 (or 6) Mbps, per system, for distribution from one central hub location to several remote nodes. Designed to meet rigorous carrier grade Quality of Service ("QoS") standards, it is available in fully redundant configurations with an easy to use Graphical User Interface ("GUI") and comes equipped with various network interfaces. This fixed wireless solution is designed to meet the need of Carriers and corporate enterprise network operators who need to interconnect multiple T1/E1 links from one hub site to several remote locations. Since the ioStar-3 operates in either of two frequency plans in the 2.4 GHz band (A or B) or any of the three plans in the 5.7 GHz band (A, B, or C), several ioStar-3 constellations can be installed at one hub location enabling the development of an economical, scalable and interference-free network. For service providers, this scalability translates into lower startup cost and quicker service upgrades for their customers.

The basic configuration of an ioStar-3 constellation consists of one ioStar-3H set of equipment, which is made up of one Radio Frequency ("RF") OutDoor Unit ("3H ODU") and InDoor Unit ("3H IDU") modem for the hub site, and one ioStar-3R set of equipment which consists of one 3R ODU and one 3R IDU at a remote location. As the need materializes, up to three remote locations can be served by one ioStar-3H by simply adding ioStar-3R systems, without the need to change the 3H-IDU, 3H-ODU, cables, or the antenna at the hub site. The ioStar-3 system provides many important benefits, including:

  • Quick return on investment versus recurring leased line charges
  • No need for user licensing (compliant with FCC regulation Part 15);
  • Provides voice, video, and data communications for up to 25 miles;
  • Unaffected by rain, snow, fog, or other climatic conditions;
  • Link reliability enhanced by Forward Error Correction ("FEC");
  • Integrity of entire link monitored and reported by various alarms;
  • Ability to perform loopback tests to pinpoint problems;
  • Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) from ODU can be monitored at IDU;
  • IF signal strength fault location simplified by separate receive and transmit cables;
  • Installation simplified through use of standard interfaces (DSX-1 or G.703);
  • Performance can be monitored remotely or at the IDU at either end of a link.
