Lucent selects WatchMark to provide service assurance for Mobile Telecom

<%=company1%> (Bellevue, WA) has been selected by Lucent Technologies (Murray Hill, NJ) to provide management technology for Lucent's Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) radio access network. The agreement will bring enhanced management support to 3G wireless networks, enabling better wireless Internet, voice and data service quality for consumers.

As part of the agreement, WatchMark is developing the operations and maintenance center u-transport (OMC-U) portion of Lucent's offering. Using its Insight architecture, WatchMark's software will provide network operators with detailed support for fault management, performance management, and configuration management for thousands of network elements.

Lucent is leveraging WatchMark's scalable capabilities, such as time series data warehousing and visual correlation, to enable operators to quickly configure new equipment and network services, and to resolve the causes of network failures within the UMTS radio network.

"UMTS represents an entirely new network technology for 2G operators," said Tom Uhlman, president, Lucent's New Ventures Group. "For Lucent, WatchMark's advanced technology in complex network design and management is a significant competitive advantage, and the wireless end user is the winner."
