<%=company1%> Japan Ltd. has successfully completed the deployment of its Arbor/BP billing and customer care software solution to NTT Communications - the first company to purchase and deploy these products in Japan. Prior to this, Lucent formed a cooperative alliance with NTT Data Corporation (NTT Data) to market and sell Lucent's billing and customer care line of software solutions including Arbor/BP in Japan. NTT Communications is the first customer to purchase these products through this alliance.

NTT Communications Corp. will use Lucent's Arbor/BP product to handle the billing requirements of its data services for business customers. NTT Communications expects Lucent's Arbor/BP billing and customer care software to enhance customer service and quicken its time to market in the competitive enterprise data service environment.

NTT Data will further strengthen its package solution lineup as a system integrator with the Arbor/BP solutions and provide billing systems that satisfy the diversified requirements of service providers with a large customer base and that offer services ranging from voice to leased line and IP services.

Market analysts foresee an increasing demand for advanced convergent billing and customer care solutions in the Japanese telecommunications market. Operators are striving to launch new services enabled by third-generation wireless communications and Internet protocol (IP) technology. This is especially true for carriers that operate in complex environments, including voice, leased line and IP service.

Lucent's Arbor/BP helps service providers deliver wireline and wireless telephony, Internet, broadband and energy services charges to consumers on one consolidated bill, integrates legacy billing systems and simultaneously supports multiple languages and currencies.
