Metrocall to provide B2B services based on Cisco equipment
Wireless data and messaging company Metrocall Inc. (Alexandria, VA) has been designated a Cisco Powered Network provider. The company's Cisco-based network will enable it to combine multiple, varied communications traffic over the same network circuits simultaneously. With this network, Metrocall will offer its customers enhanced high-performance, reliable and secure network services. This ATM Network is already carrying increased amounts of simultaneous voice, data and TNPP (wireless messaging) packets for Metrocall.
Metrocall's two-way networking capabilities are built upon Cisco wide-area networking solutions including Cisco IGX 8400 series multiservice switches, Cisco 3600 series routers, and Cisco 2600 series routers. A benefit of this relationship is its participation in joint marketing and technology sharing activities with Cisco.
"The Cisco Powered Network designation reinforces Metrocall's focus on telecommunications efficiencies that are critical to both its internal operations and its external service offerings," said Kevin Outcalt, senior director of service provider marketing for Cisco.
