MSI Announces Initial Public Offering

London-based Metapath Software Corp has filed a Registration Statement with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for the sale of its common stock for an aggregate offering price of $172.5 million. The company expects the common stock to be listed on the Nasdaq National Market under the symbol "MSII."

Metapath Software International is a leading global provider of business and operational support systems software used by the wireless communications industry to launch and support mobile voice and data services. The company's products and services enable clients to create and support new and existing services, improve network quality, evolve to third generation networks, and address customer experiences and demands. The company was formed in 1998 by the merger of Mobile Systems International, which since 1989 had developed software and solutions in network planning and optimization, and Metapath Software Corp., which since 1994 had been a developer of software for mediation, provisioning, and customer relationship management solutions.

The underwriters for the offering are Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette Securities Corp., FleetBoston Robertson Stephens Inc., and Jefferies & Co. A registration statement relating to these securities has been filed with the SEC but has not yet become effective.
