Nextel Online reaches Ohio

Source: Nextel
Moving forward with its deployment plan, Reston, VA-based Nextel Communications has launched its Nextel Online wireless Internet service in the Columbus, Cincinnati, Dayton, and Cleveland, OH, markets (see Nextel Introduces Wireless Internet Service for Business). The new suite of wireless data services was designed specifically for business applications.

To provide the two-way messaging capabilities, Nextel also has selected Wireless Services Corp. (Bellevue, WA) an application service provider for mobile Internet applications. The company has been providing Nextel with its text and numeric messaging services since their debut in 1998 and currently sends more than 11 million messages per quarter to Nextel subscribers. Over the past year, the number of wireless messages being delivered by Wireless Services to Nextel customers has grown by more than 536%.

With the new two-way capabilities, Nextel Online subscribers can not only receive critical time-sensitive messages, but also originate and reply to those messages from their phones.

All customers will be supported by Nextel Online customer service staff members that have been specially trained to field data-related customer service calls.
