NK Cables USA Inc
NK Cables USA Inc., is a subsidiary of NK Cables Ltd., a Finnish company that is owned by a Dutch holding company called Draka Holdings, which is a publicly held company with its shares traded on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange. NK Cables USA Inc was incorporated in New York in 1991. NK Cables moved to its current location in the Dallas - Ft. Worth metroplex in 1996.
NK Cables USA Inc. is the North American headquarters for NK Cables Ltd. and it serves two major business areas. The first is RF cables with products and services focused on the wireless network markets and the second is Telecommunications supplying fiber optic cables, products and services. NK Cables and its predecessors have been serving North America since the mid 1980's. NK Cables Ltd. is an ISO 9001 and 14001 certified company with worldwide operations.
Corporate History
The original company was the Finnish Cable Works, which was founded in 1912 in a town named "Nokia" in Finland. In 1960 the company name was changed to Nokia Cables. In 1990 Nokia Cables was restructured into an independent company within the Nokia family of companies. In 1996 Nokia spun off the cable manufacturing operations to the NKF Group. In 1997 the company name was formally changed to NK Cables Ltd. NK Cables and its parent company, the NKF Group were totally focused on the design, manufacture and installation of all types of cable products. In October of 1999 NK F Group was acquired by Draka Holdings.
In 1999 the new Draka Holdings had combined sales in excess of $1.5 billion USD. The combined corporation consists of 49 operating companies in 22 countries. In North America, Draka owns seven companies and has a strong position in data cables for industrial and offshore applications.
