The Adaptive Noise Reduction (ANR) software functionality of the echo canceller, deployed in the mobile switching center (MSC), detects background noise of a speaker in a wireless environment and reduces it so the PSTN user hears more clearly. The product reduces background noise in wireless networks and enhances the functionality of Quad T1 and Quad E1 echo cancellers. It is the latest addition to the Voice Quality of Service (VQoS) software suite.

The product filters the voice signal from the background noise and then reduces the noise by one of four user selectable levels (6 dB, 12dB, 18dB and Maximum). The product reduces noise floor to -42 dBmo. The noise reduction algorithm enables the suppression of distracting background noise, while retaining the natural timbre and resonance of the human voice.
