Cablevision’s Optimum Voice is First in Nation to Offer Landline Phone Service in HD, Providing the Best Available Voice Quality Using the Most Advanced Network Technology

Bethpage, NY (PRWEB) - Cablevision Systems Corp. today announced the launch of High Definition (HD) calling on Optimum Voice, the latest advancement in audio calling that provides significantly higher voice quality than standard phone service. The Optimum Voice network is the first landline service to launch HD calling in the U.S., allowing customers to be the first in the nation to experience the best available voice quality when making those important calls from their home or business phones, whether it’s catching up with relatives or touching base with clients and colleagues.

With HD calling, customers experience:

  • Clearer, crisper calls
  • Improved call clarity
  • Defined voice quality – voices sound more natural and recognizable

“With HD calling, Optimum customers have access to the best available voice quality, allowing them to enjoy richer, fuller audio when on the phone,” said Kevin Packingham, Cablevision’s executive vice president of product management. “Similar to the advancement from standard to high definition for television, HD calling is a remarkable innovation to our voice services, and we believe customers will be thrilled by the call quality that they will experience with this network upgrade.”

HD calling is an enhancement to the Optimum Voice network that requires no additional monthly fee for customers. It is currently available in select Cablevision services areas and will continue to roll out in phases across the entire footprint over the next two months.

In order for customers to experience calls in HD, both sides of a call must have a phone that supports HD calling and, initially, both must be on Optimum Voice’s HD network. However, Cablevision will interoperate with additional launched HD services to provide customers with a wider HD calling network.

In addition to HD calling on Optimum Voice, Cablevision also offers cutting-edge services with its Optimum TV and Optimum Online services. With Optimum TV, Cablevision’s award-winning digital cable service, customers have access to hundreds of channels, including more than 80 premium movie channels, 50 channels of commercial-free digital music, tens of thousands of titles available on demand at all times, an interactive programming guide, more than 150 high-definition channels and uniquely valuable and relevant local content through News 12, MSG Varsity, and their companion interactive television applications.

Additionally, Optimum Online’s high-speed internet continues to win numerous third-party accolades. Optimum Online was recognized in the past three Federal Communications Commission’s “Measuring Broadband America” report as one of the nation’s leading broadband providers, delivering in excess of 100 percent of advertised speeds, on average. Optimum Online has also sat atop the Netflix USA ISP Speed Index report for 17 consecutive months for delivering the fastest Netflix connection of all major providers. Additionally, Optimum Online was named YouTube HD Verified by Google for consistently delivering to its customers YouTube videos in high definition.

Optimum Voice service, available to Optimum Online customers and Optimum TV customers, is carried over Cablevision’s network, not the public Internet, and offers customers a highly reliable voice service with superior value. Popular features of Optimum Voice include the ability to check messages by phone or online, caller ID on Optimum TV, view call history, call forwarding, enhanced 911 access (E-911) for every customer, and local number portability, allowing customers to keep an existing phone number when switching to Optimum Voice.
