The Future of Technology is OUR Performance of Today!

PNI Technologies, Inc. offers a complete array of access products and services for the wireless industry. That means MORE than providing access to paging, telephony, and Internet services. It means provisioning for the future right now by building bridges for products and services that have yet to arrive. Customers embrace new access technologies at an astounding rate. PNI Technologies, Inc. will provide connectivity for tomorrow's access customers.

Exciting new multi-service applications for PNI TECHNOLOGIES, INC., Platfrom1 Product line:

The PNI TECHNOLOGIES, INC., Platform1 product line is centered around a single chassis unit. This unit houses both hardware and software applications modules that provide telecommunications switching and access for unified messaging service offerings. Ranging from straight switching, available through a patented, high speed algorithm that can accommodate up to 28 T1's per 10 or 7 U chassis, to paging and voice messaging, the Platfrom1 is a single unit that can provide remote and local access for a variety of services. Since multiple service options are the key to unified messaging, Platform1 is a unique solution with multi-function hardware that provides easily integrated applications enabling carriers to provide these offerings to their subscribers.

The unique architecture within Platform1 allows modules to be placed into use as needed. The applications that derive from these modules can be integrated and customized to allow one provider to offer multiple options to its subscribers. Carriers with agents and resellers can easily track and manage these offerings as well. This multiple access allows the bridging of various networks, whereby two carriers can partner and enhance their services.

To enhance basic web services such as email hosting, DNS, and authentication servers, PNI is developing some new features that will allow unified messaging to move forward another step:

  • Remote Call Forwarding: Forward any phone to any other phone.
  • Remote Message Retrieval: You don't have to get your emails or voice mails from a specific location.
  • Online Call Answering: You can put your web browsing session on "hold" while you take an incoming call and then go back to it when the call is completed.
  • Voicemail as email: Voice mail is stored on Platform1 as a .wav packet. These can be designed to attach to emails; subsequently, the recipient can detach and "play" the voicemail on any standard media player available in most desktop operating systems today.
  • Pager Notification of new emails: Your pager is alerted when emails arrive.
  • Pager Messages stored as emails: If you are out of coverage range, your pager messages (including numeric and alphanumeric) will be stored as emails.
  • Text to Speech: Have your emails and pages read to you when you can't log on to retrieve them.
  • Fax-Internet Capability: Send and receive faxes from and to your Internet account. You can still get faxes while on the road.
  • Voice over the Internet Gateway (VoIP): Establish phone connections using the IP protocol and save on long distance.
  • Single Number Access: Use a single number to access the services you need.

Currently, PNI will be demonstrating the "Text to Speech" and "Voicemail to Email" applications at the PCIA Global Exchange in September.

The "Text to Speech" application will use a concatenated speech engine developed in-house by the PNI Technologies engineering team. The server card, which will house the application, allows for the simultaneous use of 96 trunks. The easily understood engine plays back 200 words of any email or page that is received to a user set up for this service.

The "Voicemail to Email" application is certainly a unique multi-service offering for any unified messaging provider. PNI Technologies uses the standard .wav file format to store its voice mail messages. An application has been developed that allows for a user to designate an email address to receive his voicemails as .wav file attachments to emails. Subsequently, the user can log in to his email provider and forward his voicemails to anyone for whom he has an address. The messages can then be heard through playback from the MS Windows media player or any sound player that can handle wav files.

PNI TECHNOLOGIES, INC., has lots of exciting new applications for carriers to provide web based and multiple access points to their subscribers. Platform1 is truly a unique solution allowing the switch functions, server cards, and applications to be house in a single chassis. As we move into the new millennium, connectivity is the key to any Unified messaging service. Platfrom1 is an extremely scalable and extensible system to build upon. Today's' hardware will take any carrier into the market of the future.
