PROP Sim C2 Wideband Radio Channel Simulator
PROPSim C2 is a digital real-time hardware radio channel simulator that can be used for testing existing and future mobile communications and WLAN systems. PROPSim C2 accurately reproduces the real-world propagation phenomena such as multi-path fading, sliding delays, attenuation, path loss, Doppler shift, shadowing and noise. It enables systematic, repeatable testing of wireless systems in realistic, time variant conditions in laboratory. PROPSim C2 fully complies with 3GPP channel models and provides a seamless transition from 2G to 3G testing.
PROPSim C2 offers a new, fully integrated design for maximum ease of use, flexibility and simplicity of test setup. The user interface is based on an integrated PC, touch screen and a keyboard mounted in the front panel - no external accessories are needed. Optional accessories such as local oscillator and AWGN noise source have also been implemented internally. Full ATE support is available via GPIB and Ethernet.
PROPSim C2 key features include 30 MHz RF bandwidth and center frequency up to 6 GHz. It incorporates three simulation interfaces RF, analog baseband and digital baseband. This extends the use of PROPSim C2 throughout the whole product development cycle from ASIC design verification and algorithm testing to type approval testing thus helping to reduce the time-to-market of wireless products by enabling detection of design errors at the earliest and least expensive stage of development.
The new Channel Modeling Toolbox allows fast and easy generation and modification of channel models, be it the use of standard models e.g. GSM, IS-95 or 3GPP or any user defined model. It allows to define fading profiles, select from three different shapes of Doppler spectrum and program hopping or smoothly sliding delays for different taps separately. This is especially useful in testing RAKE receiver design in WCDMA systems. Channel models are ready to run after selection and channel model parameters can be changed on the fly during simulation. Channel Model Editor also allows importing simulation files from other channel modeling software.
Simulation can also stopped and run step-by-step, impulse response by impulse response. In digital baseband mode PROPSim C2 can be operated non realtime by using an external clock.
