Red-M delivers the 'WAP Intranet'

The Red-M 3000AS access server integrates, on a single platform, Bluetooth technology with powerful Internet access capabilities. It allows mobile access to the Internet and Intranet, synchronization of data, and wireless transmission of data between PCs, handheld devices and other emerging information appliances.
The integral WAP gateway extends the principal use of WAP from public access applications to include local Intranet applications over a Bluetooth network infrastructure. For enhanced performance, frequently accessed WAP pages are cached on the 3000AS to further increase the speed of browsing.
For secure applications, the 3000AS combines on a single platform the WAP gateway functionality with Virtual Private Networking (VPN) to allow secure access to WAP content from a remote location over the Internet.
Graham Carter, Product Line Manager, Red-M, comments, "Many of the current applications for WAP have been limited by the available network bandwidth. By combining WAP with Bluetooth we are able to deliver WAP services at up 100 times faster than those offered on current cellular networks. We believe this will help stimulate the demand for WAP applications and drive the market for mobile data communications solutions."
Red-M's WAP gateway software for the 3000AS access server is available now at a price of $1,995. Red-M's development partners have free access to the software as part of the m-dev program. Current Red-M customers can download it from the Red-M website, www.red-m.com.
