Siemens AG has selected location technology from SignalSoft Corp. (Boulder, CO) to enhance its current WAP gateway deployments. The software products help enhance the variety of services that mobile customers are currently using with their WAP-enabled phones. Incorporating location into these WAP services makes them more relevant, practical, and convenient.

To deliver location-based WAP services, SignalSoft's location software is integrated with Siemens' WAP solution. The software allows mobile network operators to combine the location of its customers with Internet content for a range of data services. The WAP solution allows mobile customers to access information available on the Internet in a format that allows this information to be displayed on a handset clearly and quickly.

With the inclusion of location-based software, Siemens offers mobile operators that have already deployed its WAP gateways a way to increase the value of their WAP services.

"Partnering with SignalSoft to integrate location software with our WAP solution fits well with our business strategies," said Mechthild Behrens, Siemens vice president of middleware and platforms. "Location is a key component in the wireless value added service market. We believe that combining location with our current WAP deployments will help make the wireless Internet a growing part of today's mobile lifestyle."
