Strix Selects ReliaClear To Deploy Wi-Fi Mesh Networks To Canadian Markets
ReliaClear is deploying Strix Access/One Outdoor Wireless System (OWS) for multiple City-wide WiFi networks. The City of Thorold, Ontario, which covers 32 sq. miles with a population over 18,000 is the first of many multi-city projects in which ReliaClear is providing the design, deployment and operations of commercial, municipal and public safety networks across the Ontario province and Niagara region. As a provider of digital services, and unique in the region, ReliaClear offers a wide range of voice, video, data solutions to multiple markets and specialty digital telephone and Enterprise-class voice PBX solutions to business and wholesale customers.
Driving the initiative between the City of Thorold and distinguished local members of the business community, ReliaClear established anchor tenancy with the municipality in which services, including Internet and virtual voice are delivered in concert with city-wide and mobile WiFi at a reasonable cost. In return the city provides access to street lights and other municipal wireless mesh access points for equipment installation.
ReliaClear chose Strix Access/One OWS after extensive evaluation and testing. The criteria for the selection included high throughput for high capacity and bursty user traffic, low latency to maintain high call quality at high volumes, and mesh resilience self-adjusting for highest performing backhaul. By choosing Strix, ReliaClear not only achieved their initial objectives, but gained a new range of enhanced services, reaching the greater population.
"We needed a system with quick deployment; a rapid and simple installation process – timing was of the essence," said Michael Somerville, President of ReliaClear. "Strix Systems solutions allow us to deliver compelling and cost effective advanced services to our customers."
The performance and versatility of Strix Access/One OWS, Indoor Wireless System (IWS), Mobile Wireless System (MWS), Edge Wireless System (EWS) and Integrated Video Surveillance System (IWVS) enable the deployment of advanced applications for public safety and municipal projects including, the mobility of work force applications such as remote access to building inspection data, Voice over IP, security and wireless video surveillance, electronic parking meter reading, Internet access, routing and other transportation and venue information electronically displayed on buses etc.
ReliaClear continues to extend its reach, eventually covering what's referred to as the southern corridor of the "Golden Horseshoe" with WiFi mesh. The company is implementing a business incubator project for the IT Sector of Thorold which will utilize the new municipal WiFi network for research, development and outsourced services.
"ReliaClear offers the leadership, drive and stamina to address the large number of opportunities in the Canadian market" said Martin Levetin, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Strix Systems, "We look forward to a continued strong relationship and the expansion of their initiatives in city-wide and rural deployments.
