Calabasas, CA-based Tekelec has chosen Harris Corp. (Melbourne, FL) to provide its network management platform (HNM) as part of a total, Internet Protocol (IP) SS7 signaling transport solution in the United Kingdom. As part of the Orange Personal Communications Services Ltd., HNM will manage two Tekelec IP7 secure gateways and twenty-four IP7 Edge nodes from a central location to ensure uninterrupted availability of network management data.

"The ability to graphically make status information immediately available to operations, maintenance, and customer care personnel, was crucial to the launch of Orange's new signaling network," said Paul Miller, vice president IP Telephony, Network Systems Division, Tekelec. He said features that made HNM a fit were its centralized management, easy-to-interpret graphical displays, and alarm capabilities.

Additionally, HNM will manage Tekelec's IP7 secure gateways, which provide global title translation and signaling for central network routing, and control. More than 2,600 SS7 links will interface to Tekelec's IP7 Edge nodes, which will connect to the signaling gateways via IP connection.

Tekelec also has integrated HNM in signaling solutions provided to some of its other customers around the world, such as MobilRom in Romania, VodaFone in Australia, and Uni2 in Spain.
