The Air2Web Mobile Internet Platform Version 2.1 offers secure mobile access to enterprise applications through a high-availability, scalable wireless transport infrastructure.

The Air2Web Mobile Internet Platform Version 2.1 offers secure mobile access to enterprise applications through a high-availability, scalable wireless transport infrastructure. Using an XML-based API, Air2Web's Mobile Internet Platform allows you to deliver enterprise applications such as ERP, CRM and Supply Chain Management (SCM) solutions to your customers and employees using any digital device.

Version 2.1 of the Mobile Internet Platform delivers wireless applications to the global market. The platform includes international support for 2-way Short Message Service (SMS), I-mode, and J-phone wireless standards. Two-way capabilities are deployed immediately for the United Kingdom and Spain and will be extended to the rest of Europe by mid-2001.

The Air2Web Mobile Internet Platform component-based model consists of:

  • Interface Adapters: These adapters manage specific functionality of wireless devices. They process 1-way and 2-way SMS devices, wireless PDA's, web-enabled phones, and digital phones. This component also includes Voice and Audio functionality including Speech Recognition, Voice Print Biometrics, DTMF, IVR, Text-to-Speech, and Streaming Media. New adapters will continue to be designed and implemented as new wireless technologies emerge. In addition, the interface adapters connect leading enterprise applications in CRM, Sales Force Automation, database, and back office systems directly to the Mobile Internet Platform.
  • Interaction Processor: This enables the enterprise or development partner to build one application that will behave properly regardless of the end-user's network or carrier. Each network and carrier has intrinsic features and incompatibilities that increase the complexity of delivery. The Mobile Internet Platform shields the application developer from these complexities and specifics of wireless delivery. By defining the dialog desired for the end-user in XML, the developer never needs to know the specifics about, or even the wireless device used by the end-user.
  • Device Specific Rendering: Our platform renders information to each device in a way that fully exploits the device features including voice, text, audio, or rich media. The platform also properly formats information that is sent to each device.
  • Delivery Services: To maximize the impact of a wireless strategy in the marketplace, enterprises must be able to deliver services on all types of wireless devices. Our interface automatically adjusts to the specific device without additional programming or interaction on the part of our clients. Mobile users simply select the appropriate digital device from graphical representations from the Web and select the content desired. Our platform transparently manages everything from auto-network and device identification to content integrity.
  • Data and Audio Support: To take maximum advantage of a phone's multi-media capabilities, we ensure that content delivered to the phone may contain text, audio, or rich media and that the user may interact via the phone keypad or through voice commands.
Session Management: The session manager maintains the interaction progress of the end-user for increased security during mCommerce and financial transactions. The Session Manager provides extended functionality to the end-user by maintaining their connection to the platform through wireless interruptions such as dropped calls and disconnects.
  • Security Framework: Our platform provides for secure transactions across all devices and network combinations. Ensuring security is paramount for a certain class of business applications. We have partnered with VeriSign, the leading supplier of Internet security Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), to provide a robust security framework for authentication and encryption in the wireless environment. Data is protected through the application segment, to our wireless platform, to the carrier gateway, to the remote device and back again. Security is based on the best Internet and wireless carrier technology and includes authentication, encryption, data masking and full physical security.

Core Functional Components

  • MobileWallet:
This provides a secure solution for mobile users for presenting buying credentials to complete M-Commerce transactions. Credit/Bank Cards are secured through Voice-Print Biometrics and PIN combinations. Billing and Shipping information along with card details are entered via SSL during the provisioning process. The MobileWallet can be shared across multiple properties (sites) or private for a specific customer site.
  • M-commerce engine:
  • The M-commerce Engine provides secure transactions through the use of PKI for wireless devices. The M-commerce Engine processes requests through SSL connections to the customer servers using XML or OFX for financial institutions.
  • Location services:
  • Location services provide geographic specific functionality to end-users by allowing a user to input or say their zip code to receive information relative to their location. As wireless carriers implement location reporting, Air2Web is poised to offer enhanced location services for location-centric applications and Advertising.
  • Billing: T
  • he Billing subsystem provides usage and transaction metrics for internal Air2Web use and the external Reporting facility. Logs of all XML requests and responses as well as messaging, call times, incoming phone numbers, audio processing time, and mCommerce transactions are generated for accurate usage measurement for automated billing.
  • Reporting:
  • The Reporting subsystem provides an online web-based reporting tool for Air2Web customers. The Reporting subsystem gives customers accurate and flexible usage and transaction reports.
  • Advertising Engine:
  • The Advertising Engine provides both promotions rotation and third-party advertising transport to wireless devices. For customers that provide their own content for promotions, the Advertising Engine provides full-featured functionality as a media ad rotation engine.
  • International Device Support:
  • Version 2.1 offers additional enhancements to the platform including international support for 2-way Short Message Service (SMS), I-mode, and J-Phone wireless standards. The Mobile Internet Platform has been extended to allow applications to reflect country, language and character set preferences to deliver and accept content that is localized.
