The TRANS master Digital Transcoding Switch (DTS) is an intelligent compact device that compresses and grooms voice traffic, increasing bandwidth utilization and reducing costs. Using Adaptive Differential Pulse Code Modulation (ADPCM), the DTS compresses two T1 or E1 signals into one. Compression may be selected on a full-link or channel-by-channel basis, packing 2 voice channels into a single DS0. The TRANSmaster also functions simultaneously as a digital crossconnect switch (DCS), grooming, bypassing or switching, any combination of 56/64 Kbps timeslots. The TRANSmaster supports 4 T1 circuits and includes integral T1 CSU circuitry. Two V.35/RS530 high speed data ports, with integral DSUs, provide users the ability to drop and insert local data into unused timeslots.

Automatic Protection Switching of multiple configurations provides the ability to automatically reroute and or vary link or channel parameters based on link failure or user defined thresholds.

The TRANSmaster has been designed to be easily configured and managed via any SNMP based element manager, VT100 terminal, or PC with terminal emulator. The management port may be accessed locally or remotely via an external modem.

The TRANSmaster is a highly integrated single module solution that can either function as a stand alone unit or be fully integrated with additional TRANSmaster modules or other MASTERseries products in any Paragon multi-slot enclosure such as the eight slot ACCESSmaster system. Hardware investment is protected as user networking needs change.
