Trimble Galaxy "Integrated GPS/Inmarsat-C"

The Trimble Galaxy is an integrated unit combining an Inmarsat-C terminal and GPS receiver in one, compact, ruggedized unit. The Galaxy unit consists of a transceiver, and external antenna unit that contains both the Inmarsat and GPS antenna in the same unit. The Galaxy unit is a unique and powerful unit that allow user standard access to Inmarsat communications including data, telex, and faxes, but has the added functionality of GPS position reports. Using the Galaxy, user's can now track remote fleets of trucks or vessels from any part of the world directly from their office. The Galaxy units can be configured to output position reports at specified intervals or times of the day, and can also be polled on demand from the base station. Integrated GPS Technologies, Inc. has integrated support for this powerful transceiver into it's GPS-LINK software, to allow for world-wide based AVL applications using standard GIS and mapping packages.
