VoiceStream Launches Service in Washington, DC, Baltimore

Bellevue, WA-based VoiceStream Wireless Corp. has launched its PCS system in Baltimore/Washington, DC. The carrier will leverage spokesperson Jamie Lee Curtis in print, television, and radio ads introducing consumers to its Get More service. All rate plans include free features such as first incoming minute free, voice mail, paging, caller ID, call waiting and call hold, text messaging, and detailed billing.
The company will also leverage its multi-state local calling area, which is included free in standard rate packages. The Mid-Atlantic Neighborhood plan offers 500 monthly minutes of airtime covering a multi-state Mid-Atlantic Neighborhood for $39.99, and 12 months of free weekends nationwide for those who sign up for this plan by June 30, 2000. The plan includes free digital roaming and long distance for calls placed in and to Washington, DC; Delaware; Maryland; New Jersey; New York; Ohio; Pennsylvania; and northern Virginia (area code 703).
