The 3000 Series SONET/SDH Digital Microwave Radio System is designed to carry one OC-3/STM-1 plus two optional wayside DS1s per RF channel in the 4-13 GHz bands
NEC America, Inc., Microwave Radio Groupries SONET/SDH Digital Microwave Radio System is designed to carry one OC-3/STM-1 plus two optional wayside DS1s per RF channel in the 4-13 GHz bands. Employment of the optional Cross-polarization Interference Canceller (XPIC) enables the reliable transmission of up to 16 OC-3s in the 6 GHz band.

The radio houses Microwave Integrated Circuits (MICs) and Hybrid ICs (HICs). Custom-made, large-scale integrated circuits (LSIs) enable applications such as a new fully digital modem incorporated into a single LSI chip. Compactness and reliability are also gained by using low-power, high-speed complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) LSIs, which reduce overall power consumption.

Other NEC 3000 Series features include:

  • Modular Design: maximizes ease of maintenance and expandability while minimizing spares
  • Various System Applications: ring or linear network topology, hot standby or 1+N protection
  • Good Threshold/Interference Ratio and Standard ATPC (Automatic Transmitter Power Control): eases frequency coordination
  • Synchronization Flexibility: dual external clock inputs, clock derived from incoming optical or RF signals, redundant internal clocks
  • Advanced Operation, Administration, Maintenance, and Provisioning (OAMP): configuration database download, edit, and upload capability
  • Alarm Correlation and Onboard Alarm History: simplifies fault analysis
  • Low Power Consumption and Convection Cooling: no fans or filters requiring maintenance
  • Compact, Total Front Access Design: 1+7 terminal in less than 4 sq. ft. of floor space
