WIRELESS 2000: Multi-RangeTDMA Cell

Lucent Technologies Inc.wered Flexent TDMA 850MHz MultiRange Cell was designed for build-outs of existing networks and start-up markets. The Flexent TDMA MultiRange Cell will carry voice traffic for high- and low-mobility applications using software, base station, and network infrastructure equipment that will be
used in this company's next generation (3G) wireless networks.

The MultiRange cell is a base station whose Dual Radio Modules (DRMs) enable the same radio to be defined as either digital or analog direct from the switch. By centralizing many of the complex call processing functionality at the switch, Lucent has been able to drive down equipment as well as operations costs. The MultiRange cell also reuses technology from the Flexent TDMA Microcell and Series II product families to further minimize customer costs.

This cell is based upon the Flexent TDMA Microcell and the Series II Modular Linear Amplifier Circuit (MLAC). The approach is one that utilizes existing technology. It marries portions of the cellular TDMA Microcell Series II Linear Amplifier Frame and Antenna Interface Frame in order to radiate at higher power levels, offering growth potential up to 30 carriers per sector.
