The NetMotion 2.0 is a new version of the company's solution for wireless networking. This version offers enhanced encryption, connection state handling and support for Pocket PC devices. Transparent to both applications and networks, NetMotion is a client/server solution that extends existing applications to wireless networks without customization, middleware or stack replacement.

Available in two editions the Wireless LAN Edition and the Wireless WAN/LAN Edition NetMotion 2.0 gives devices the ability to move seamlessly between wireless networks, recover automatically when disconnected or out of range, and maintain application states throughout.

Key enhancements include:
• Security- NetMotion 2.0 Wireless WAN/LAN Edition offers strong encryption that secures network communications over public and wireless networks. Administrators can choose from 56-, 128- or 168-bit encryption, allowing them to implement VPN functionality that meets the security levels their enterprises require.
• Enhanced performance on Windows CE-based mobile devices. With the new version, the company has optimized the performance of Pocket PCs such as the Compaq iPAQ, HP Jornada 540 series and the Casio Cassiopeia E-125. The MIPS R3000 series processor is also supported.
• Improved state handling and automatic recovery. If a mobile device is being used out of range of the wireless network, for example, the device will establish the NetMotion connection automatically once in range.
• Centralized management tools. Wireless devices and connections can be tracked and managed, including the removal of connections to "lost devices" from the network. Bypass mode allows the client to be disabled "on the fly" without rebooting, which is useful when the server is taken offline temporarily.
• Roaming features. Users can roam seamlessly across subnets and IP networks and take advantage of advanced interface-assisted roaming detection algorithms.
• Application persistence. Application connections are maintained for wireless users through out-of-range conditions, device suspension for battery-life management and rapid roaming.
