Ztango.com to provide WAP, SMS services for Aelix UM products

Deciding it needs to add wireless capability to its unified messaging service, Aelix Inc. (Fairfax, VA), a Communications Application Service Provider (CASP), has struck an agreement with Ztango.com (Reston, VA) to provide short messaging service (SMS) and wireless application protocol (WAP) functionality to its unified messaging (UM) application portfolio. Ztango.com's wireless applications solutions and services enable e-companies, enterprises, and wireless network operators to interact and transact with their customers, suppliers, and employees through the use of wireless devices.

Aelix will add wireless capabilities to its "Qortet" unified messaging product by integrating Ztango.com's SMS and WAP gateways. It plans to outsource the service, with Ztango.com providing hosting, network connectivity, and operational support services. The agreement also provides Aelix with access to Ztango.com's advanced wireless application development and test labs for the development and testing of new services.

The Ztango.com-enabled solution provides subscribers with access to their unified message box and the ability to receive notifications that they have messages in their box for review. Aelix will be able to configure Nokia's 7110 handsets to the platform using the WAP Gateway's over-the-air (OTA) capability.
